Gazing through the window, he realized just how lucky he was.

As others bolted out of life's gate, he got off to a rocky start. His childhood was anything but carefree, complete with a cold-blooded mother and a drunken father. Living only as a prostitute, his mother screwed anything and everything on two legs. His father dealt with it by drinking himself into daily stupors, and knocking the daylights out of his two children. He held a janitor's position, working as a dog just to pay the rent.

Well, his checks were meant to satisfy the rent, but they only satisfied one thing: his craving for more booze.

Day in and night out, he sought ways to comfort himself. He tended little gardens, created stuffed kittens for hugging, and lived out fantasies. He envisioned himself in the life of a princess, dressing in white leggings and creating cone hats. Wondering when his prince would come to take him far, far away. Hoping someone would rescue him from a sordid, laborous life.

He dreamt of becoming a princess. Living in a life of rose petals, kisses and vows. He carried those fantasies to school, and even though there were plenty of school bullies, he continued to wear his dreams on his sleeve. White and red roses were stuck in his hair, and mini skirts were his favorite pieces of clothing. The bullies tortured him all throughout high school, but he never let go of his fantasies. Never surrendered the roses or dreams.

At the age of sixteen, he gathered up the strength to move into his own apartment. He still didn't know where the strength came from, but it came. And it led him into the vast, colorful world of Tietra City. The city where the wildest dreams came true, according to the motto. And thanks to that motto, he discovered the perfect place for a new beginning. His apartment was anything but luxurious, thanks to a small-wage job at a gas station, but luckily his school aid kicked in. All he needed was a roof over his tiny head, food to eat, and resources to work with.

Thank goodness for the ample generosity of the school system.

As it turned out, the bullies even lived in college environments. Wearing roses and ribbons inside Tietra's elite university didn't do him any favors, but he never took anything off. He continued to believe in the dreams he had sheltered his whole life.

Even after he was cast into a hospital, tossed into a comatose state.

Someone was there, though. And that someone was there, the entire time.

________

His name was Tomoe Lyreshire.

He discovered Tomoe during one of his club meetings. He enlisted in the university's flower club, wanting to form a deeper connection to nature's treasures. Tomoe discovered him in an instant, astonished by his knowledge of all things flower. Their common ground in nature's treasures wasn't the only foundation of their bond, though.

His tears were wiped away by Tomoe's hands. His loving, strong hands led him to not only club meetings, but inside the school bookstore. The school cafes. Tomoe led him everywhere, keeping him safe from those that wished to ruin him. Protecting him from all harm.

Two months down the road, Tomoe Lyreshire was declared a 'prince'.

Three years down the road, the prince and his princess graduated. With flying colors.

_________

Rubbing his tummy, he realized he was the luckiest human alive.

A new home's fragrances were wafting into his heart. The scent of fresh paint and tiles bounced off the walls, secretly laughing with the mirth of carefree children. He swore he could hear himself laughing, playing with his miniature Rapunzel and Prince Charming.

He truly was the luckiest soul alive. He was lucky to be alive. If it hadn't been for the gentle, kind hands of the angels, he never would've lived through the first sixteen years of his life. He certainly wouldn't have met Tomoe, who filled his life with love. Sweet, tender love and overwhelming happiness.

In just a few months, the Lyreshire would have someone else to share Heaven's love with.

In no time at all, their home would be ready to carry love's grandeur. He wanted to help with the move-in, but Tomoe wouldn't have it. Even without their unborn child, he wouldn't have it. The prince never wanted him to lift a finger.

The blue-haired hero was in the background, assisting the movers. Boxes were being charted in, and placed with loving care. It wasn't any surprise to know the Lyreshire was getting along with the movers, because he got along with everyone. He got along with the priest, cashiers and newspaper carriers. He gave all of his best men (yes, there was more than one best man) wedding cookies, gave the priest a hug, and cast a flower shower over the entire wedding party.

Tomoe loved everyone. Tomoe was love.

"Hey there, Alynne. Everything okay over here?"

Alynne Herschfield-Lyreshire, also known as Aly (and Peanut), turned away from the window. Smiling, radiating the warmest of love, he turned to Tomoe. "We're fine," he said, rubbing his bulging stomach. "He...h-h-he can't wait to see us! He...h-h-he's kicking alot. W-w-wanna feel him?"

A warm, strong hand fell onto his tummy. "He's excited all right, and I can't wait to meet him."

"T-T-T-Tomoe...is everything all r-r-r-right on your end? H-h-how are the movers?"

"Shiba and Shinn are peachy keen. No need to worry about a thing."

Soft, muscular hands wrapped around his waist. He knew, as peace crept into his bloodstream, everything would be all right. Everything would always be all right.

Tomoe's latest words were followed by kisses. And those words would forever remain the motto of their life. Their fairy tale.

The fairy tale he had always dreamt of.
